Pour cela, la cour de France entretient un corps de musique capable de fournir en permanence les musiques et les effectifs n\u00e9cessaires.<\/p>\n<p>Formalis\u00e9e par Fran\u00e7ois I<sup>er<\/sup>, la Musique du roi atteint son apog\u00e9e sous le r\u00e8gne de Louis XIV et rythme la vie de la cour. \u00c0 la fin de l\u2019Ancien R\u00e9gime, la Musique du roi rassemble pr\u00e8s de 200 musiciens, r\u00e9partis dans les trois principaux d\u00e9partements de la Maison du roi : la Chapelle, la Chambre et l\u2019\u00c9curie. Louis XIII y habite quasiment toute l\u2019ann\u00e9e, tandis que, bien avant Versailles, Louis XIV en fait sa r\u00e9sidence principale. Command\u00e9e par Louis IX en 1238, la Sainte-Chapelle annex\u00e9e au ch\u00e2teau subit d\u2019importantes transformations, notamment sous Henri II, qui y fait installer une tribune et des galeries de bois sur tout le pourtour de la nef. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1630, Louis XIII commande un nouveau d\u00e9cor \u2013\u00ad aujourd\u2019hui disparu \u2013 compos\u00e9 de riches boiseries et de peintures, que Louis XIV fait rafra\u00eechir en 1669.
